take me back tuesday: finally!

Well look who's back on track with take me back tuesday -- this girl! My house may still be in shambles but I managed to get you a little tid-bit. Below is a picture of the birthday where I got my very first pair of rollar blades...hot damn!

I love this picture for two reasons:
1) the skates were pink and purple which were my fav colors (pretty much still are)
2) look at the little cheese monster that is my brother in the bottom right-hand corner...bwahahaha!

So here's a little weekend recap. I was going to post it last night but got distracted. Surprise, surprise.

Friday evening after Danny and I got home from work we arranged the furniture in our living room to see if this particular couch we have our eyes on will fit properly. It ended up looking like it was going to be the perfect size. We moved everything out of the way and shoved the Christmas decorations into the attic. They had been piled in a corner in the living room since day one of move in.

That evening we went down town for a friend's birthday and had some drinks to celebrate. We didn't stay out too late though because we had lots planned for Saturday. It was nice to catch up with some friends we hadn't seen in awhile.

Saturday we went and got the couch! We bought it from Whit-Ash downtown and had them scotchguard it for us. They wrapped it up all nicely in plastic and loaded it into our trailor. Getting it off the trailor and into the house was quite the sight I'm sure. It was just Danny and I trying to wrestle the pieces through tight doorways. I kept dropping it and getting my hand caught. At one point I looked at Danny and exclaimed, "This is heavy! And I'm a wimpy girl!" He busted out laughing. We did manage to get it all inside though. No pictures yet because I don't want y'all to see the mess.

We headed to Greenville after the couch wrestling and were going to go to a fabric store in Iva that's only open once a month but has fabulous deals. Unfortunately we weren't going to make it in time so instead we headed for another fabric store near the BMW plant. We were able to agree on fabric to recover the headboard in our bedroom and to make matching curtains. One of the many projects that will be on my list I'm sure. We're planning to go back to the Iva store next month to get fabric to make slip covers for the old couch and the oversized leather chair my parents gave us.

Saturday evening we met up with our friend Neil for his birthday dinner before going to the Blind Horse Saloon. He picked Brixx to eat at and I totally recommend it. It's a pain on the location in Greenville, but extremely yummy once you get there. Line dancing at the Blind Horse had always been one of my favorites. The only thing that would have made the night better would have been if my bestie was there.

Sunday I finally got my car cleaned. There is an amazing car wash right down the street from Danny's parents' house. I just haven't been able to find anything comparable where we live. I'm a spoiled brat when it comes to my car. In the three years that I've owned it, I've never washed it myself. I attempted to once or twice but only got as far as vacuuming out the inside.

We loaded up the car and headed to the Gaffney outlet mall to visit a friend of Danny's who is the manager at Banana Republic. He also let me do a little shopping while we were there. Hooray for much needed new jeans! All-in-all a pretty fantastic weekend.

holy cow y'all

Things have been crazy! I've been a horrible blogger (with good reason) and I have tons to talk about.

Valentine's weekend my bestie was supposed to visit but it snowed. It snowed a lot too, between 6-8 inches! I was so upset. I miss her terribly. Danny and I did play in the snow a bit. He even had us go all the way out to my parents' house so he could play in the snow with both pups. He's such a big kid lol.

The big weekend of moving sure did come faster than I expected. It was a looooooonnnnggggg weekend and boy was I sore. We were very grateful for all the help though. My parents, the Hodges, and Danny's brother-in-law Kevin all came to help. I think we'd still be moving if not for them. We didn't get everything comepletely done the weekend of the 19th but went back this past weekend and finished up. There were some monster dust bunnies that needed to be removed from the house haha.

In the middle of all the moving chaos I still managed to help throw a baby shower at work for Beaty and little miss Tallulah Jane. Beaty went to Clemson so I just had to get Tallulah her very first game day attire. I found an orange tee with a bedazzled tiger paw on it plus tiger paw embroidered socks and hair bows to top it off. I can't wait to see her all decked out this fall!

I've missed the past take me back tuesday and this tuesday is no exception. I'm not even sure which box all my pictures are in at this point. Maybe by next tuesday I'll have found them...maybe. Sorry y'all.

I have the most adorable picture of Danny and Ella that I need to show y'all. I promise I'll post it soon(ish).

Some of you wondered if I ever got a response to my lovely email I sent the Stanley Thermos people. Well guess what...they did! I'm going to get a replacement for free. I knew they would stand behind their product. You can't claim you throw something out of an airplane and not replace it when it gets dented falling out of a car.

I got a sweet award from Mrs. B the other day and I promise I'll do what I'm supposed to as soon as I can! Love you girl!

To add to all the craziness in my life, this week I have jury duty. Talk about timing! At least during the down time I can catch up on blogs on my phone. I'm pretty sure I have over 400 in my reader. If I don't comment as much though I hope you'll understand.

I think I rambled enough for right now. Toodles!

take me back tuesday

Many of you know that we're in the process of moving. We close on our very first house this Friday (!!!) and the big move happens on Saturday. Needless to say, everything is everywhere and I'm trying desperately to get it all packed. Since I knew it would get like this I thought ahead and scanned a bunch of extra pictures so I could have some take me back tuesdays on the back burner just in case I didn't get my pictures unpacked for awhile. I give you today's take me back tuesday, on time, brought to you by my awesomeness to think ahead.

My brother and I thought this was the coolest thing ever. We would watch tv in the position for hours -- well maybe not hours, more like 10 minutes, but we still thought it was fun. Why we are doing it outside, I have no idea. I guess just so mom could take a picture.

I was country (in the north!) before country was cool. Is country cool? This is at daddy's work Christmas party. The little brother wasn't too kean on Santa that day. Looking back he is a bit creepy.

Can't really remember details about this picture. I just think it's cute.

Sorry for the lack of posts lately but things aren't exactly thrilling around here. I've been packing and packing and sitting by the fire and making chocolate cakes and packing. I'm not exactly sure how it's all going to get done. We have a good bit left and only 3 more nights. Tonight is Fat Tuesday and a pancake dinner at the church so I'm pretty sure I won't be getting anything accomplished except expanding my waistline. My friend Allison is coming Thursday so that will force me to do actual work, hopefully.

happy thursday

Have I mentioned that I love my husband? That he's the greatest ever? Well it's true and here's a little bit of proof. Yesterday morning we got up and did our normal routine of getting ready in the morning. The hubs kissed me goodbye and headed off to work. I finished getting everything ready and as I went to put my lunch in my bag I found a little surprise.

This beautiful little blue box was wrapped in tissue paper and tucked into my bag.

There was a card that I opened first. At first it worried me a little because it seemed a bit on the mushy side and my hubby is not a mushy kind of guy.

The punch line on the inside took the mushy worry away. See how he signed it "Happy Thursday"? Happy Thursday indeed!

Inside the box was the Tiffany's heart charm bracelet I've been wanting forever and another little note. This one reads: I know you have wanted this for a long time, and I know that we're spending a lot of money right now, but I wanted you to be able to wear it as we buy our first house on Friday :)

*love*

He had my initials engraved on the other side.

Of course I called him right away to tell him how much I love him and how lucky I am that he's mine, and I am lucky, very lucky. Everytime I look at my bracelet all I can think is "damn, glad he's mine."

take me back tuesday: special edition

I know this is only my second take me back tuesday and I'm already getting fancypants on you with a special editon, but I found these pictures and couldn't resist sharing.
This is my grandfather almost 65 years ago. He was on a submarine during WWII. The back of the picture has the date of September 2, 1945 and location of Yokosuka, Japan. If you're a history buff, that's a big deal.

My memere and grandpa in Charleston when they came to visit. My memere has since passed away.

One of my parents' dogs took a likin' to him...haha.

take me back tuesday: the beach

This take me back tuesday is actually on tuesday - score. Too bad it's about the only thing that's going right today. After fighting with the phone company, the bank, and a fax machine, I think it's appropriate to go back to a time where I wasn't a grown up and never had to deal with grown up stuff.

I really hope mom doesn't get upset about me posting this picture out into blogland, but I just couldn't help myself. I love this picture of us. I definitely grew up as a beach baby. This was just one of our many trips - Newport maybe? Not really sure. They all tend to blend together.

I'm pretty sure this picture is from a trip to Myrtle Beach before we actually moved to South Carolina. My parents fell in love with this beach which is a major reason why we moved from the cold north to the sunny south.

I'm going to picture myself at the beach hoping the rest of my work day flys by without any more frustrations.
