take me back tuesday

Many of you know that we're in the process of moving. We close on our very first house this Friday (!!!) and the big move happens on Saturday. Needless to say, everything is everywhere and I'm trying desperately to get it all packed. Since I knew it would get like this I thought ahead and scanned a bunch of extra pictures so I could have some take me back tuesdays on the back burner just in case I didn't get my pictures unpacked for awhile. I give you today's take me back tuesday, on time, brought to you by my awesomeness to think ahead.

My brother and I thought this was the coolest thing ever. We would watch tv in the position for hours -- well maybe not hours, more like 10 minutes, but we still thought it was fun. Why we are doing it outside, I have no idea. I guess just so mom could take a picture.

I was country (in the north!) before country was cool. Is country cool? This is at daddy's work Christmas party. The little brother wasn't too kean on Santa that day. Looking back he is a bit creepy.

Can't really remember details about this picture. I just think it's cute.

Sorry for the lack of posts lately but things aren't exactly thrilling around here. I've been packing and packing and sitting by the fire and making chocolate cakes and packing. I'm not exactly sure how it's all going to get done. We have a good bit left and only 3 more nights. Tonight is Fat Tuesday and a pancake dinner at the church so I'm pretty sure I won't be getting anything accomplished except expanding my waistline. My friend Allison is coming Thursday so that will force me to do actual work, hopefully.

happy thursday

Have I mentioned that I love my husband? That he's the greatest ever? Well it's true and here's a little bit of proof. Yesterday morning we got up and did our normal routine of getting ready in the morning. The hubs kissed me goodbye and headed off to work. I finished getting everything ready and as I went to put my lunch in my bag I found a little surprise.

This beautiful little blue box was wrapped in tissue paper and tucked into my bag.

There was a card that I opened first. At first it worried me a little because it seemed a bit on the mushy side and my hubby is not a mushy kind of guy.

The punch line on the inside took the mushy worry away. See how he signed it "Happy Thursday"? Happy Thursday indeed!

Inside the box was the Tiffany's heart charm bracelet I've been wanting forever and another little note. This one reads: I know you have wanted this for a long time, and I know that we're spending a lot of money right now, but I wanted you to be able to wear it as we buy our first house on Friday :)

*love*

He had my initials engraved on the other side.

Of course I called him right away to tell him how much I love him and how lucky I am that he's mine, and I am lucky, very lucky. Everytime I look at my bracelet all I can think is "damn, glad he's mine."

take me back tuesday: special edition

I know this is only my second take me back tuesday and I'm already getting fancypants on you with a special editon, but I found these pictures and couldn't resist sharing.
This is my grandfather almost 65 years ago. He was on a submarine during WWII. The back of the picture has the date of September 2, 1945 and location of Yokosuka, Japan. If you're a history buff, that's a big deal.

My memere and grandpa in Charleston when they came to visit. My memere has since passed away.

One of my parents' dogs took a likin' to him...haha.

take me back tuesday: the beach

This take me back tuesday is actually on tuesday - score. Too bad it's about the only thing that's going right today. After fighting with the phone company, the bank, and a fax machine, I think it's appropriate to go back to a time where I wasn't a grown up and never had to deal with grown up stuff.

I really hope mom doesn't get upset about me posting this picture out into blogland, but I just couldn't help myself. I love this picture of us. I definitely grew up as a beach baby. This was just one of our many trips - Newport maybe? Not really sure. They all tend to blend together.

I'm pretty sure this picture is from a trip to Myrtle Beach before we actually moved to South Carolina. My parents fell in love with this beach which is a major reason why we moved from the cold north to the sunny south.

I'm going to picture myself at the beach hoping the rest of my work day flys by without any more frustrations.

if I were...

I saw this over at Handbags & Handguns and wanted to play along...

If I were a month, I'd be April - not too hot and not too cold (well in SC at least).
If I were a day of the week, I’d be Saturday - because TGIS is way better than TGIF.
If I were a time of day, I’d be 10 am - not too early but still plenty of day left.
If I were a planet, I’d be Earth - I kinda like it here.
If I were a sea animal, I’d be a starfish - useless but pretty.
If I were a direction, I’d be southeast - I love where I live.
If I were a piece of furniture, I’d be a chaise lounge - who doesn't like to lounge?
If I were a liquid, I’d be apple juice - I don't care how old I am, I still love the stuff.
If I were a gemstone, I’d be a diamond - it is my birthstone afterall.
If I were a tree, I’d be a Christmas tree - that way I could be fancy even as a tree.
If I were a tool, I’d be a hammer - so I could hit things.
If I were a kind of weather, I'd be hot and steamy - obv reasons.
If I were a musical instrument, I’d be a trombone - hubs played it in college.
If I were a color, I’d be pink - fav color duh.
If I were an emotion, I’d be random - is that even an emotion? I say yes.
If I were a mythical creature, I'd be a unicorn.
If I were a fruit, I’d be a strawberry - sweet.
If I were a sound, I’d be giggles - they're contagious.
If I were a car, I’d be a Mercedes - high class.
If I were a food, I’d be kraft mac n cheese - I've eaten so much of it during my life already...
If I were a place, I’d be a craft store - craft stores make me happy.
If I were a material, I’d be flannel - oh-so-snuggly.
If I were a taste, I’d be cinnamon sugar - cause girls are made of sugar and spice and everything nice.
If I were a scent, I’d be honeysuckle - it's a happy scent.
If I were an object, I’d be a jewelry - sparkly.
If I were a body part, I’d be eyes - ready to see everything I can.
If I were a facial expression, I’d be a smile.
If I were a song, I’d be Kill the Lights - yea Brit.
If I were a pair of shoes, I'd be flip flops - in the south you can wear them with anything.
If I were a flower, I'd be a tulip - simple.
What would you be?

take me back tuesday: on wednesday ugh

So I finally got my act together (even though it's a day late) to bring you my very first installment of take me back tuesday. I had seen this on Meredith's awesome blog (go check her out!) and asked if I could copy her if I promised to give her cred. She gave me the green light!

Today's pictures are from my dance years. Since I danced from age 3 to 18 there are many to chose from.

My very first dance recital. I'm the cutie blonde second from the right. Look at that form! I was all over it when the other girls were lost. I still have that costume. (Thanks mom for saving all of them! The hubs is especially grateful slash not really and has already tried to get me to trash them.)

The company I danced with, Kalia Karr, had a theme for the recital every year. This year's theme was "Going to the Circus". I was supposed to be a popcorn girl but they never got the trays of popcorn made in time for the actual recital. Sads. I also totally forgot to bring my tights for picture day...whoops.

Mom would often have me pose all over our yard so she could take pics. My little brother was (is) a huge ham and couldn't resist jumping in on the action.

today = not awesome

Everything about today annoyed me - seriously. Work, lunch, my computer, poop monster (pupster), having to make dinner, blerg! What peeved me the most though was the fact that I was going to do my first take me back tuesday today and I can't. The pictures I had scanned in were on my work computer and when I tried to email them to myself my email quit working! Take me back tuesday will have to be on wednesday.
