highlighter pink polish

Ever since I got my nails did at the salon, I've kept a look out for the perfect highlighter hot pink nail polish. It made me seriously happy so I definitely wanted my own bottle.

The hubs suggested to check out the store that has all things teeny bopper, Claire's. Sure enough their nail polish brand Icing came in the electric pink I had been searching for!

Sadly it was not worth the $4.50 I paid for it. After two coats it was still a bit streaky. Oh and did I mention it's matte? Who wants matte hot pink nails? Luckily the bestie had clear I could use to give it the shine I wanted.
I'm making it work, mostly because I don't feel like buying nail polish remover while we're on vacation. The search continues...

things I hate: packing

I absolutely despise packing. Whenever we are heading somewhere I dread the packing. I'd much rather unpack a million times than pack. My reasoning being that when you unpack you know everything has to be put away. When you pack you have to decide what you want to bring.

For me, deciding what to bring on a trip is torture. I have a very back case of the what-ifs. What if it's cold? What if it's hot? What if it rains? What if we go somewhere nice? What if I want to work out? What if I spill something on myself? What if...?

I've made a list of things I want to pack for our beach trip {which I should be doing right now} but I'm sure by the time I'm finished I will have packed a month's worth of clothes for a one week beach trip that I will most likely spend 98% of my time in a bathing suit and cover up anyway.

not a happy camper

While I did enjoy scarfing the entire bag of skittles along with the pizza I had for dinner last night, I am very much regretting it today.

Funny how your body gets used to all that healthy food. I feel like I am the size of a house now. I know I'm not, but everything feels tight and I'm wearing jeans and a t-shirt!

Back to eating lean meat and lots of veggies tonight! And because both my bestie and I are huge planners, we've already created meals and a grocery list for vacation. No bloated whales on the beach!

this and that

Thursday: the hubs and I were invited to dinner at the Antleys' gorgeous home. It's funny how we live only a couple of miles down the road from each other, but this is the first time visiting. The newlyweds, Jessica and Bryan, joined in the fun as well. It was a great night of good food, funny stories, and lots of wine!

Friday: we've been doing the Friday-night-Mexican for awhile now and I just needed a change. Jessica had told me about this ahh-mah-zing burger place that was featured on Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives but I couldn't remember the name of it. A quick call and we were headed to Pawley's Front Porch and Jessica and Bryan were joining! It was delish! If you live in the Columbia area you need to go!

Saturday: fabric mecca here we come! With coupons in hand we went out to the new location of All About Fabric in Williamston. Our goal was to look and see how expensive marine vinyl is because I've decided I'm going to recover our boat myself. I nearly died when I saw the price of $13 a yard, especially since we need 21 yards! After much debate we decided to go for it since we had a 25% off coupon. The heavens opened and the angels sang when we got to the register and it was $6 a yard. I'd never been happier even though it was still a little over $100 worth of material. I also got a couple other tidbits of fabric for fun stuff.

Sunday: after church I was determined to sew. I was interupted last week with the removal of a planter, so this week it was going to happen. After making lunch, cleaning the kitchen, starting laundry, and cleaning the litter boxes I went into my craft room. I made the new throw pillows for our couch. I've only had the material since May, oopsies. I also realized something. I have a fabric addiction! I have so much fabric for projects that I've never started. I seriously need to get things under control and stop buying more!

Five more days until the beach!

sweet summer smells

I'm currently sitting on my parents' back porch and it distinctly smells like summer out here. It's heavenly.

The smell of smoke from a charcoal grill mixed with the scent of citronella from a candle to keep the bugs at bay is wafting through the air. It brings back so many memories of summer BBQs at my grandparents' house.

Other favorite summer smells of mine would be fresh cut grass, burnt marshmallows around a campfire, and suncreen mixed with bug spray. Oh and don't forget wet dog. That's another popular one around these parts.

To me it just wouldn't be summer if I didn't smell certain things. We're going to the beach in a week and I'm looking forward to smelling the ocean.

something I said I'd never do

Our Sunday started out like any other Sunday. We slept in. I didn't get out of bed until 11 and it was wonderful. I declared that I would be spending the day sewing and doing crafty things so the hubs said he was going to clean boat parts on the back porch.

After finally getting out of bed to eat a banana, I decided that I should at least work out before I continued my lazy day. The hubs had turned on music so I asked if I could work out real quick like then turn his music back on. He gave me the green light so I changed and started the wii active.

Here's where my big mistake came in. I turned the music back on after I was done and popped outside to the porch to make sure it was on correctly. The hubs said he was going to tear out a planter we wanted to remove and I said, "you need some help?" Why I let those words slip from my mouth, the world may never know. Three hours later, the planter was gone.

I kinda forgot to take a before picture so this one is from when we were seeing the house for the first time back in January

half way done

I transplanted flowers from one bed into this one - hope they don't die

all gone!

the hubs was spraying the water at Ella

Needless to say today I HURT! My whole body aches. Sad really. The hubs convinced me that I needed to work out again tonight to help loosen the muscles so it would hurt less. I did and we'll see if it works. Now he's feeding me ice cream...sweet!

I must love him

The hubs has got it in his mind that he wants a boat... I managed to shoot down the first boat he found because I didn't like the set up. My mistake was telling him what kind of boat I would like, then I received this email:

from: hubs
to: me
subject: smurf boat :)

from: me
to: hubs
subject: :)

You get a boat. I get this.

from: hubs
to: me
subject: RE: :)

How much is that?

from: me
to: hubs
subject: RE: :)

I have no idea lol. Someone else tweeted the pic so I copied it. I'm sure "a lot" doesn't even cover it.

from: hubs
to: me
subject: RE: :)

Uh huh...it looks like a 5g ring

from: me
to: hubs
subject: RE: :)

It's pretty

Well get it from Roger (our jeweler) and it's a deal. We'll call the boat "my husbands new ring" and the ring "my wife's new boat" ;)

from: me
to hubs
subject: RE: :)

Bahahahaha! Like we can afford both psh

So guess who got his boat?

And guess who got her ring?
