it's not fall, it's football season

While in northern parts of the country the start of September means fall, down south it means football! It certainly doesn't mean fall weather as we nearly melted at the Clemson game this past Saturday. I'd definitely welcome some cooler temps. 

Friday, I took off work and took bubs to see Sesame Street Live in Greenville. His daycare was able to get group tickets and asked parents if they would like to join. A little while back we took him to see Jake and the Neverland Pirates. He was pretty terrified then, but I thought maybe, this time, he'd be just a touch older and better prepared.

Haha, NOPE. He clung to me and the lovies the entire time. He didn't outright cry, but he did tell me "we can go home now." After a little while I got him to relax and point out the different characters. During intermission he told me that he was having lots of fun. Kids are weird.

We went to Chick-fil-a for lunch and back home for a nice long nap while I packed us up to go to Clemson for the weekend.

I walked into the living room to bring all of our bags and found this little train he had set up. He's obsessed with lining up all his toys in a row. He gets everything the way he wants it then climbs into his truck and watches tv. I'll say it again, kids are weird.

Something that I'm obsessed with are these 31 utility totes. I just got a third one so each person in the family gets a tote for the weekend. They are the perfect size for a weekend away and so sturdy. I love how the opening is structured and doesn't collapse on you. Quinn always wants something while we're driving so the open top makes it easier for me to hunt around in there. 

Quinn got to wear his game day outfit on Saturday. He loves pointing out the different tiger paws every where and telling us "goooooo Tigers!" #raisethemright I put a tiger paw tattoo on my cheek and Quinn about flipped. He wanted one of his face too, ha.

Clemson has new construction going on all over campus. The one that I'm most excited over is Spirit Point near the Brooks Center for the band. My parents bought hubs and I bricks with our names on them to be put in the walkway there. Maybe they'll be going in soon and we'll be able to look for them. It's such a great thing to have for the future. I can't wait to have Quinn help us find our names in the walkway.

Like I mentioned earlier, we nearly melted at the game. It was hot hot hot and I was so glad to not be in a uniform. I do miss marching with Tiger Band and being a part of the color guard, but after a game like that I do NOT miss wearing a uniform.

Tiger Guard has 32 girls this season! Or at least that's how many we counted. I think the band overall has 305. Tiger Band has done a great job over the years and I love to see them growing. IPTAY got them new uniforms this year as well. They look pretty sharp.

We stayed until there was about 5 minutes left in the third quarter. When the Tigers scored again to make it 44 to 0, we decided to throw in the towel and seek air conditioning.

Quinn didn't go to the game with us, but I'm fairly certain he had a better time with his cousins. They went to a pirate pool party and even came home with loot. Then we let him stay up late building towers and running around like a maniac. That's what weekends are all about, right?

He turned into a snuggle bug the next morning though when it all started to catch up with him. He took a pretty solid nap on Sunday to recover. The house was so quiet while the boys napped and I indulged in some sewing. The best.

And to end on a random note, have y'all tried the Blue Moon harvest pumpkin ale? If you like pumpkin flavored drinks, I highly recommend it!

clemson vs boston college game

Woowhee, that was a game! It definitely should not have been as emotional as it was. Thankfully Clemson pulled through in the end.

Our weekend started late late late on Friday night. The hubs had been working all week in Florida, so he had to make the drive all the way home Friday night. Quinn and I got to Clemson around dinner time, but the hubs didn't pull into the driveway until midnight. I stayed up waiting for him which I definitely shouldn't have because someone decided it was time to rise and shine at 6am.

I tried to distract him with some Mickey Mouse Clubhouse watching hoping I could at least close my eyes, but that wasn't good enough.

There was dancing, snacking, and lots of lego playing. Thankfully his cousin Eric came out to play and they could entertain each other.

While we headed off to campus for the afternoon, Kathy and Kevin took all three kids to a pumpkin patch. I believe they ended up having more fun than we did ha!

90 Minutes Before Kickoff is always a good show. Tiger Band never disappoints!

The drumline put out a great show! Love when they add tricks into their routine.

It also happened to be Twirler and Dancer for a Day during pregame. I think there was over 200 little ones out there! So cute! If we have a little girl you better believe I will sign her up for stuff like that haha.

While I struggled to stay awake during the game, my sister-in-law texted me all of these adorable pictures! Proof that Quinn had the BEST time with his cousins. His clothes also served as proof. They were filthy. I even found a couple corn kernels in the washing machine the next day!

homecoming

Whenever I think about Homecoming at Clemson, I picture a huge tailgate filled with friends, beers in hand, catching up, and playing corn hole. I think of all our babies running around together while hot dogs are cooking. Sadly that wasn't the case this year. We had a small tailgate with another couple, but it was still fun. Maybe next year we can plan for the big one.

This picture is actually from the day before. We always wear our orange to daycare on Fridays and he was just being so sweet that morning.

We had to be on campus a bit early to get Danny registered for alumni band. Right as we arrived at Brooks, I received this picture from Kathy. Somebody decided to help himself to her fruit loops!

Danny and Chris marched their trombones but I decided to skip it this year. I took pictures and video instead ha!

While we were off doing alumni band, Kathy had Quinn. She, Kevin, Ashley, and Eric took him to see the floats on Bowman Field.

Quinn loves his cousins so much. It so fun to watch him try to keep up. They are all so sweet together.

Another beautiful Saturday in the books and another Clemson win too!

clemson vs sc state game

Another Saturday in the south means another Clemson football game! This one was an early game, kickoff at 12:30. This also meant it was hot, hot, HOT.

We watched Tiger Band do their 90 Minutes Before Kickoff show, which is always a favorite of mine.

Kevin, Kathy, and Eric came to the game as well, while Ashley had a sleepover with her best friend and my mother-in-law kept Quinn back at Kathy's house.

I got a picture with the Rock since it's been vandalized. Such a shame that it happened! No school deserves to have their traditions messed with {even Carolina ;)}.

I'm so glad the Tigers won, but it was very hard to pay attention to the game. It was definitely not as exciting as the Georgia game the week before. We ended up leaving at the beginning of 4th quarter because it was so hot. I was beginning to feel dizzy and need some shade and some food.

We were going to have my mother-in-law meet us at Brooks to tailgate on campus after the game, but due to an escapee (the dog) her timing was off and she couldn't get on campus. We ate at the house instead and crashed for a little before heading home.

We now have the next two weekends off until Homecoming on the 28th!

labor day weekend

Our Labor Day weekend was jam packed full of fun. We headed to my sister-in-law's house Friday evening and didn't leave until Monday after dinner!

Saturday was the first Clemson football game against the Georgia Bulldogs and whoo-whee was it a doozy! ESPN Game Day was on Bowman starting at 9 o'clock. We all got to campus around 10 and milled around for a bit.

Quinn was able to run out some energy on Bowman while we waited to hear the ESPN crew announce who they thought was going to win the game. They picked Georgia (boo) but turns out we didn't need their support. Clemson won anyway!

This year we have season tickets directly behind Tiger Band. The view is pretty good and it almost feels like home ha! The Georgia players ran through the band to try and "meet" the Clemson players at the bottom of the hill. I had flashbacks to my freshman year in 2004 when the South Carolina players did the same thing, except that time I was down on the field trying not to get knocked over.

I was actually very thankful for an intense back and forth game. It kept me interested and awake! The game didn't end until a little over midnight. Luckily we were able to scoot out of traffic quickly and get back to Kathy's by 1:15.

The next morning Kevin was so kind to watch Quinn for us so we could sleep in. I'm not sure the last time I slept till 11! Kevin and Kathy had friends come over for a cookout later that afternoon. There were 8 little ones running around, having a blast. We took them to the park after dinner to expel the energy!

Monday we took the boat out on Lake Hartwell for one last hurrah. Sadly we were only able to enjoy the boat twice this summer. Maybe next year will be better. The kids went tubing and loved jumping off the dock. Even Quinn got in on a little of the action. Danny sat on the tube in the water and Quinn jumped into the water where I caught him. He would immediately want to climb back up and say, "Set! Jump!" (ready, set, jump).

It's a little hard to see in the picture since we didn't get very close, but that's Clemson's stadium from the lake.

While Quinn was napping, Eric convinced Uncle Danny to help build some legos.

It was a fantastic weekend but very tiring haha! I love seeing Quinn play with his cousins. He'll be doing lots of that this fall as we head back each weekend for another football game!

neil pops the questions

I love love! I also love being a part of my friend's love story, so when Neil came to us with a plan I was so thrilled to be included.

Our friend Neil had decided it was time to pop the question to his girlfriend Megan. He had purchased the ring and decided the when and where. He wanted the hubs and I there, hiding in the bushes, to capture the moment.

It might have been a little weird creeping in the brush trying to find the best angle, but it sure makes for some great pictures and a fun story! Neil took Megan on a tour of Clemson's campus with the end goal being to end up walking down the President's walk. He would tell her the legend of how couples who strolled down the path holding hands were destined to become married and stay together forever.

At the end of the path, and the end of the story, he knelt down and asked her the famous question, "Will you marry me?"

Unfortunately I was positioned where a gazebo was in my way, but the hubs was on the other side. He was able to get some great shots of the actual down-on-one-knee-proposal.

So excited for these two! I can't wait to celebrate and take more pictures on their wedding day.
