homecoming

Whenever I think about Homecoming at Clemson, I picture a huge tailgate filled with friends, beers in hand, catching up, and playing corn hole. I think of all our babies running around together while hot dogs are cooking. Sadly that wasn't the case this year. We had a small tailgate with another couple, but it was still fun. Maybe next year we can plan for the big one.

This picture is actually from the day before. We always wear our orange to daycare on Fridays and he was just being so sweet that morning.

We had to be on campus a bit early to get Danny registered for alumni band. Right as we arrived at Brooks, I received this picture from Kathy. Somebody decided to help himself to her fruit loops!

Danny and Chris marched their trombones but I decided to skip it this year. I took pictures and video instead ha!

While we were off doing alumni band, Kathy had Quinn. She, Kevin, Ashley, and Eric took him to see the floats on Bowman Field.

Quinn loves his cousins so much. It so fun to watch him try to keep up. They are all so sweet together.

Another beautiful Saturday in the books and another Clemson win too!

shooting range and slides

In December, the hubs and I are going to a class to get our concealed weapons permits. I mentioned to the hubs how it might be a good idea to go to the shooting range once or twice before we test seeing as how I haven't been shooting since before I was pregnant. {Side note: how is that almost 3 years ago??}

After church on Sunday, we headed to Greenville. The hubs' mother and brother-in-law would be joining us, while his sister watched the kids.

How funny is it to see my mother-in-law holding that huge gun? We were getting ready to leave when that man came in and she wanted to stay to watch him shoot. He offered to let her shoot it. She held the gun but declined on shooting once she saw how much it kicked against him ha!

After shooting, we met Kathy and the kids at the park. They were all having a blast running around. Quinn shows no signs of fear when it comes to climbing, jumping, swinging, or sliding. We're gonna be in trouble ha!

Since bubs didn't nap, we headed home early. While I gave Quinn a bath and put him to bed, the hubs picked up a pizza for dinner. I was glad to be lounging on the couch with nothing important to do. In my opinion, that's the best way to end the weekend.

niagara falls {alternately titled: canada, eh?}

The stars aligned and the hubs and I were able to take a trip together to see Niagara Falls. I had won two plane tickets, the hubs had enough hotel points, and my mom was available for babysitting!

Our plane took off on Thursday and we returned Sunday, so we had the rest of Thursday, all of Friday, and all of Saturday to explore. Thursday we stayed in Buffalo where our hotel was and went to their military park along the Erie Canal. It rained for a little bit, but quickly cleared up.

Friday, we dug out our passports and headed to Canada. I was a little disappointed that they didn't stamp them. Apparently you have to ask?

It was overcast, raining off and on this day too. So we darted in and out of antique shops on our way to Niagara Falls on the Lake.

The entire trip we kept spotting signs of South Carolina. Our rental car had a SC plate, we saw this boy scout uniform in an antique shop in Canada, and there was a sticker of the SC flag on a pole at a restaurant we had dinner at.

When we were in Savannah, the hubs had spotted these candle center pieces made out of wine barrels. He loved them, but not the price tag. Wouldn't you know we found them in Canada for half the price! He was very excited ha. We purchased one and then shipped it home.

We were told the best pictures of the Falls were from the Canada side, so of course we checked it out.

We also made sure to stay until they lit the falls with all the pretty colored lights. We had dinner at a place called Edgewaters that provided the best seat in the house. Not to mention I had pulled pork mac and cheese! So good.

Saturday was beautiful and sunny with white fluffy clouds in the sky. We started with a trip to the aquarium. I highly recommend this one. They have lots to look at plus a sea lion show.

We then went to see the Falls from the NY side. Because of the sun, there were rainbows everywhere you looked. It was so pretty. We also went on the Maid of the Mist boat tour that takes you right up to the bottom of the falls. It was pretty magnificent to see them from all angles like we did. I highly recommend it. I do not recommend taking your 6 month old baby on the boat tour though. There was a couple that did and he screamed the entire time. I felt so awful for that poor baby.

We ended Saturday early with pizza in bed at our hotel and football watching. Our flight home was at 7am which meant we got up at 4am to start the trip home. It was a great experience and I'm glad I can check it off the bucket list!

countertop reading

While I finish getting ready for work in the mornings, Quinn loves to sit on the countertop. Sometimes he plays with my make-up brushes. Sometimes he brushes his teeth. This time he did a little reading.

Gosh I love my bubs!

simple sunday

This Sunday wasn't very different from any other Sunday, but I think that's what I liked about it most. It was a simple day, filled with routine. We went to church, went out to lunch, and went home.

Daddy helped Quinn color while we were waiting on our food. Notice how they're both holding two crayons? Gotta do it just like daddy!

While Quinn was sitting in my lap he wanted to wear my sunglasses, but only on top of his head. Again, gotta do it just like daddy!

After nap time, Quinn "helped" me with some laundry. Those would be daddy's church socks ha.

clemson vs sc state game

Another Saturday in the south means another Clemson football game! This one was an early game, kickoff at 12:30. This also meant it was hot, hot, HOT.

We watched Tiger Band do their 90 Minutes Before Kickoff show, which is always a favorite of mine.

Kevin, Kathy, and Eric came to the game as well, while Ashley had a sleepover with her best friend and my mother-in-law kept Quinn back at Kathy's house.

I got a picture with the Rock since it's been vandalized. Such a shame that it happened! No school deserves to have their traditions messed with {even Carolina ;)}.

I'm so glad the Tigers won, but it was very hard to pay attention to the game. It was definitely not as exciting as the Georgia game the week before. We ended up leaving at the beginning of 4th quarter because it was so hot. I was beginning to feel dizzy and need some shade and some food.

We were going to have my mother-in-law meet us at Brooks to tailgate on campus after the game, but due to an escapee (the dog) her timing was off and she couldn't get on campus. We ate at the house instead and crashed for a little before heading home.

We now have the next two weekends off until Homecoming on the 28th!

popsicle

While the hubs and I were in Savannah for our anniversary, we went into a fun cooking shop full of neat kitchen gadgets. We saw popsicle molds along with recipes books and I thought it would be something fun to make Quinn.

We didn't end up getting anything from that shop {I'm too cheap} but later on when the hubs was at Ikea getting my craft room tables he saw they had a popsicle mold for just a couple dollars and brought it home.

I whipped up a batch of "batter" using different fruits and yogurt and then popped them into the freezer. Of course I couldn't get Quinn to try the popsicle for the life of me. He's such a weird kid. He LOVES yogurt blended with fruit and I thought the cold popsicle would feel good on his teething gums.

After a few failed attempts, I gave up trying to get him to suck on one. I pulled one out for me to eat and duh that's when he wanted it. Mama's food is always better!
