and that's a good thing

Another room of inspiration come from miss crafty herself, Martha Stewart. I love the sage green cabinets and drawers, such a wonderful color.

the shape of the attic lets you feel tucked away free to create till your heart's content

I love seeing an organized drawer space

on the hunt

I've come to the conclusion that I do not own very many water proof jackets. In fact, when I look in the coat closet there's a only a handful.

The first is my Tiger Guard jacket. Technically this jacket is part of a wind suit. It's not waterproof and does not have a hood. Fine for a light mist, but nothing more.

The second is another Tiger Guard jacket. Again it really falls into the wind breaker/jacket category, but it does have a hood. Downfall is that it's a pullover.

The third is a pink jacket from Gap. It's double breasted and just lovely. Matches my rain boots perfectly. It is NOT waterproof. I found this out the hard way one Saturday when I decided to wear it to a Clemson football game. By the end of the first quarter the jacket weighed 50 lbs from all the water and I could feel the drips running down my back. Not good.

The last one is my North Face jacket. it is an actual rain jacket, but it's more for throwing on with jeans and a long sleeve tee, not over my business casual attire.

Let me present to you my pick for fixing my rain jacket dilemma:

Trench coats have been around for years and years so I feel confident in saying it would never go out of style. The next question though is, which color? Do I stay traditional and order the khaki? Or do I embrace the color and pick wine grape or willow green. My wellies would go lovely with either.

Lucky for me Lands End offers to send you fabric swatches at no charge! I've requested all four colors (black, khaki, wine grape, and willow green) so I can make the proper decision.

blogging funk

I've been in a bit of a funk lately, never wanting to blog. I have plenty of ideas to post, but just haven't been up to it I suppose. Well the funk must be broken!

This past weekend I went to see the bestie. She just moved into her new apartment and it was the perfect weekend to have a little girl time. The weekend was filled with movies, chatting, a trip to Ikea, and Just Dance for wii.

Friday night went from a simple night of wanting to stay in and watch Mary Poppins to an adventure (of course!). When we went to put the movie in the sound wouldn't work properly. We wiggled and jiggled, plugged and unplugged and nothing would happen. I decided the sound cord must be done for. Off we went to Walmart.

Who knew sound cords were so popular? Walmart was out so we decided Best Buy would be our next stop. Since Shannon wasn't familiar with where everything is located around her new apartment we looked for the closest store in her GPS (lovingly named Luanne).

Luanne got us to Best Buy alright...the distribution center. Nice try but how about a store where we can purchase our needed cord?

We finally made it to Best Buy and located a new sound cord. On our way to check out we noticed Just Dance 2 for wii. How could we pass up a chance to shake what our mamas gave us? Answer: we couldn't.

Let me tell you that game is just plain addicting. Not only is it entertaining, it's quite the workout. We were both hurting the next day but still couldn't say no to another round of dance offs and duets.

I will be purchasing my own copy very soon! I'm even already putting Just Dance: Michael Jackson the Experience on my wish list since my birthday is only about a month away...

catching up

Warning: this is gonna be a long one

  • I participated in my first ever Pink Swap hosted by Miss Hopsy aka Kappa Prep. It was so fun searching for the perfect pink items to send my swap partner.
these pink pretties were sent to my partner

and this is what I received in return

  • Valentine's Day is not a big holiday in our house. In fact, we don't celebrate it at all, which is why I was very shocked to find this sitting in my car that Monday morning.

my Valentine received a chocolate cake topped with heart sprinkles

  • I have been wanting a new dining room table since, well since we got married. The current table we have is just not my style. It's an extremely shiny red cherry table. No thanks. We were at Greenville mall when we came across this beauty.

  • The Woodland Ridge by Legacy Classic Furniture. It is precisely what I had in mind and even the price was right. Unfortunately, it is made out of a soft wood and not meant to last forever. We decided to hunt around before purchasing this one. The hubs mom knows her furniture and said she would look around for us. A couple weekends later we went back to Greenville to see what she had found and I fell in love with something completely different.

  • Paula's Table from the Paula Deen Home Collection. This table is just plain gorgeous. It is hard wood and made in Hickory, North Carolina. The only downside is that the table is so popular we had to order it and it won't be here till March 14th.
  • My daddy's birthday was earlier this month. We gave him a fish finder for his boat, but I wrapped each part to it individually and numbered them. It was quite entertaining watching him try to decide what the gift was. I wish I knew how to steal my brother's video he took and post it here.
  • I have started a new low carb diet and I've lost five pounds. I'm sure if I started working out as well the weight would come off even faster. Must stop being lazy.
  • I've still been menu planning each week, but (as you can see) have quit posting it on here. I seem to always forget to take a picture of the meal before I scarf it down. Here are a few that I did manage to remember to take a pic of first.
margarita chicken over black beans with spanish rice

turkey spaghetti pie

beef tostadas

  • Last night we went out to dinner with the Cegelis, the Antleys, and Jessica's brother Justin. It was a great time as usual. One of these times I will remember to have the waiter take a picture of us all.
  • And it wrap it all up, here's something I saw at Sear's...

mini post: headboard

I recovered the headboard for our bed and I'm loving the new look. Matches perfectly! Gotta give credit to the hubs for finding the fabric.
