bathing suits are evil

This past weekend was my mom's 50th birthday surprise weekend. Daddy flew in her best friend for the weekend. They haven't seen in each other face to face in eight years. I can't stand it when I have to go eight weeks without seeing my bestie!

Saturday we spent the day out on the lake. It was beautiful until the afternoon thunderstorms rolled in. Getting home was a bit of a challenge since the storm was in the direction we needed to go!

On Sunday, the hubs and I were invited to go hang out at the pool! There are no pictures of me at the pool on purpose. I'm not exactly thrilled about my bikini bod (or lack there of) right now.

Spending an entire weekend in a bikini sure made me want to stick to my diet. I've been using www.mydailyplate.com but of course there are those days that I would go over my count and just shrug it off. Not any more!

Last night hubs got me Wii Active. I L-O-V-E this game! It got my heart rate up and I was sweating like mad (probably didn't help that I forgot to turn the air on and it was 78 in the house -- oops). I've started with the 30 day jump start workout. We'll see how it all goes. Wish me luck!

Anyone have any tips for dieting and exercising that they'd like to share? Please?

  1. I'm no expert - but I've learned a lot over the past 2.5-3 years of "diet and exercise". Feel free to contact me whenever with questions/vents/concerns/"OMFG look how much weight I lost last week! squee!" you know - whatever.

And you know where to find me. :) If you want to email me at work/home I'll send you my addy.

  2. Thanks for your comment yesterday! Nice to know I'm not the only one with the propensity to worry.

As for diet/exercise tips, I'm probably not the best to ask given my serious dislike for all things exercise. I've heard Wii Fit is good so you're on the right track with that. I bought my husband one for Christmas and we've yet to use it :-( Diet-wise the biggest tip I have is to focus on moderation & portion size. I find I do better when I don't tell myself I can't have something. Good luck!

  3. I use Calorie Counter by FatSecret. It's an app for the blackberry so it's on you all the time! And it will sync to the website as well.

  4. So here is what I do that has worked. I count calories everyday, but Saturday. Although, truth be told, I still count on Saturday. I just allow myself to go over a bit! I use a formula of 12x your current weight and 13 x your current weight to determine my calorie range. Once I am at my goal weight, I got to 15x my weight. I don't eat anything specific exactly, but you start to figure out what keeps you full for the longest amount of time. For example, sliced apples keeps me full longer than two pieces of candy for the same amount of calories.

I had done great and lost about fifteen pounds. When we moved in October, I got off track. Booking a trip to the beach, though, will suddenly bring you back to reality! I have a little over a week to loose the ten pounds I gained back! Somehow, I don't think that is happening!

  5. Um. No. Not great on the diet/exercise front these days. Sorry to say, should work on that. But ... did want to say that the pool photos are super cute! Looks like a good time was had by all!

I could give you a million diet and fitness tips! ...its a bit hard in a comment though and not exactly sure what you do now...but simply put though, its a numbers thing...work off the calories you take in...walk, play, run, enjoy the outdoors! You'll be fine! :)
