happy mother's day indeed

Growing up, there were only two things I was sure I wanted to be. I always knew I wanted to be a wife and a mother. I always saw my future with a family. Sure I declared that I wanted to be a ballerina when I was five, an art teacher when I was eight, and an architect when I was twelve, but with each change of career there was always being a mommy first.

Now that I have my very own little family I have to pinch myself to make sure it's real. How am I grown up enough to be a wife and a mother? How is this sweet beautiful boy all mine? I'm so blessed.

My first mother's day was very relaxed. The hubs got up with Quinn and let me sleep in an extra hour and a half. We watched Sunday Morning while Quinn played in his exersaucer. Around 10:30 the hubs went to work in the yard and I cleaned up around the house before we left to go to my parents house.

We had a little backyard cookout with my parents, their neighbors Iain and Helen, and my brother. Even though it rained the entire afternoon it was perfect. The food was delicious and the company was wonderful. I couldn't think of a better way to spend the day.
