Ha! I can't resist a good rhyme. Might have something to do with all those Dr. Seuss books I read when I was younger...or I'm just a dork.
After planning for two weeks I've realized I would always have extra meals left over so this week I picked out five instead of seven.
The line up:
teriyaki pork chops
fettucini alfredo
roasted cauliflower
lemon pepper chicken
white rice
green beans
turkey chili
cornbread
margarita chicken
black beans
spanish rice
meat loaf
mashed potatoes
broccoli

sunday rituals
Even though Sunday is the last day of freedom before the work week starts again, I have to say it's usually my favorite out of the two. It's a day the follows the same basic routine every time.
The hubs and I wake up late, but not too late, normally around 9 o'clock, and we put on robes and sweatshirts preparing ourselves to stay in pajamas the majority of the day. It's then time for breakfast. Sunday is the only day we ever make a big breakfast. Sometimes we have pancakes, sometimes waffles, sometimes eggs.

This morning the hubs made turkey sausage patties, eggs with ham and cheese, and toast with jam. Yum!
We always enjoy our breakfast while watching CBS Sunday Morning and then we move onto the Sunday paper. I cut out all the coupons while the hubs thumbs through the rest. It's a very peaceful morning and I love it.
Do you have a Sunday ritual?

being productive
I was going to write a post about couponing and being productive and such but I just realized I wasted my night reading blogs and I still have to clean the kitchen and make my lunch for tomorrow and I wanted to go to bed early...blah.

bye bye mr. redneck truck
Last night we sold the hubs Ford Ranger. It is a bit sad to think about. It was his first truck, his first vehicle, that he paid for all by himself. We owned it free and clear, but it was time to move on to something a little bigger.
Things I will miss about the Ranger:
- how loud it was - the hubs changed the exhaust system and you could hear him coming a mile away. I never had to look out the window to see if it was him pulling into the neighborhood, I just knew from the sound.
- the light bar - the hubs made his own light bar across the top of the truck and I just loved the way it looked (true story: before we were together he took off the light bar and I got super upset about it).
- the color - the ranger was black while the new F150 is {barf} dark red/maroon/omg close to garnet.
We purchased a new truck awhile ago so it was time for the Ranger to go just so we could get the money back in our bank account. Once the hubs put his mind to it and got going, it only took 5 days to sell! The second person to look at the truck offered us what we wanted. Score!

yummy in my tummy (meal planning week 2)
What's cookin' good lookin'? Welcome to week two of Desiree's meal planning new year. I know we are already half way through the week, but I'm still writing about it anyway. Again, if you'd like recipes let me know which ones and I'll post {ahhemm Meagan}.
Monday
BBQ chicken
scalloped potatoes
green beans
Tuesday
frittata on toasted deli flats
roasted red potatoes
Wednesday
out to eat at Ruby Tuesday
Thursday
spaghetti with meat sauce
black beans
Friday
chicken piccata with macaroni
broccoli
Saturday
teriyaki pork chops with apple chutney
spanish rice
cauliflower
Sunday
chicken cordon bleu
onions, peppers, and green beans
white rice
Let's review the frittata, or as I like to call it my big fat fail. The recipe calls to cook the eggs and yummy fillings in a cast iron skillet for a couple minutes on the stove top and then stick it under the broiler to finish it up. The hubs said I shouldn't use the cast iron on our flat top electric stove because it'll ruin the stove {even though I see my mom do it all.the.time.} so instead I used a normal nonstick pan and tried to cook it entirely on the stove.
Ummm FAIL. I burnt the bottom of the eggs and the smell and taste just seeped all throughout making the whole thing taste nasty. Sad day. At least the roasted red potatoes were yummy. Thank goodness for Stax seasoning.
